I just finished another blog for you filmmaker friends out there! There is so much going on in the local film world, I wanted to try to capture at least part of everyone's successes.

SHIRLEY FILM FESTIVAL
SHIRLEY, MA

SFF is in its 3rd year, and welcomes independent professional and amateur filmmakers to showcase their work at historic Shirley Meeting House, which is a gathering place that opened its doors to the people in Shirley in 1773 and continues to be a venue of artistic expression and collaboration.

Our friend, actor and writer Nicky Lowney, has a film screening there, "Steeped In Denial", which is an amazing mocumentary, with intrigue to boot! You'll love it.

Access Film Festival brings the best films to Metrowest Boston while showcasing and supporting our local talent! Our festival is an exhibition of inspiring films across all genres, from around the world and right here in our community.

EDITOR

Looking For VIDEO EDITOR and Camera Operator in Boston Massachusetts

Both positions pay 40.00. Editor is needed for in house editing, located at a studio in Boston for approximately 3 hours 1x Week for one month, at least. Editing is needed for hour long multi-cam footage that's already cut together, but adding in a different camera angle, color, and perhaps a little sound correction is needed. 

Also creating 30 second  Instagram shorts out of the footage is needed. If you're an editor looking for remote work, this job isn't for you, and don't contact me because your application won't be considered nor read.

Camera Man- Pay is 40.00hr. Working in a studio with provided Camera for 11-3am at least 1x a month. Recording behind the scenes footage is also a requirement.

Seeking an actor for a digital media project about home dialysis.

Location - Boston, MA

Date - One day either 1/29 or 1/30 in 2026

REENACTMENTS FOR DOCUMENTARY

Seeking talent for a 1 day shoot to create a few reenactment scenes for a documentary.

The scenes depict our main subject Kim's experiences with cancer and the aftermath of a flooded home. At Kim's side is her fiancé Nate, and her sister Erica. All parts are non speaking.

Kim: Mid 30s female, Black, bald, thin/athletic build, (presenting as a recent cancer patient)

Nate: Mid 30s, male, Black, hair can be short to long (not bald), athletic build. Need to be willing and able to carry Kim down the street.

Erica: Mid 30's female, Black, long braids, average build

Scenes will include the following:

* The subject's time during chemotherapy

* Kim sick/resting on couch with Nate tending to her needs

* Erica rubbing Kim's head for comfort

* Kim carried down the street in Nate's arms after being too weak to go on

* Encountering aftermath of flooded apartment

* Walking on soggy carpet in sandals while observing damage

Compensation: The rates are as follows; Kim 500/day, Nate 500/day, & Erica 300/day. Rates reflect time commitment & involvement.

3 Thousand Letters

Fellow local independent filmmaker, Lyria Garcia, is making a documentary “3 Thousand Letters” — a story following the plight of JP, a Brazilian immigrant who arrived in 1999 only to face the complex U.S. Immigration System.

After years of dead ends with lawyers, he took matters into his own hands—writing 3,179 letters to the White House, pleading for amnesty and reform.
