Women's History Month

Celebrating Women in Film throughout history!

The Mothers Of Modern Film

I wanted to share a really cool article VideoMaker wrote about several important women filmmakers that history forgot. There is ONE sentence that I have a beef with, but the rest of the article is pretty cool.

If you want to read the article (AND the sentence that ruffled my feathers), check out this week's Blog Entry HERE.

Lois Weber

If you don't know, Lois Weber (1879-1939) was a pioneer filmmaker in the early days of Hollywood. Before moving pictures were paired with sound, Lois was an actress, screenwriter, producer, and DIRECTOR, and one of the most important, famous, well-paid, and influential filmmakers of her time.

History forgot her contribution to the art. Very few of her films even survived to this day. I didn't know her name until filmmaker friend Gabrielle Rosson made a movie about her, "She, Who Dared", and started a film festival in Lois' honor.

So as March officially kicks off, I want to draw your eye specifically to the Lois Weber Film Festival happening on March 20, 21, & 22nd. (Tickets and information below.) It's a great festival. I hope to see you there. 😄
