DOW  POSTPONED!

Feb 18, 2026
Socials:

ALERT!

"DEAD OF WINTER" has been POSTPONED!

The original dates were set for this weekend, Feb 21 and 22nd. The organizers have sent out communications saying that there was a safety concern they could not ignore, and that they must reschedule the event.

All vendors and pass holders will be honored on the new date (as of yet, to be announced). Contact the Dead of Winter team for specific concerns or questions.

Here's the official Press Release:

"The Dead of Winter Horror Film Festival has been postponed. After receiving specific information related to a security issue, and out of an abundance of caution following the events in Providence on February 16th, and inclement weather, the team worked with the DCU Center team to establish a path forward to a new date. All tickets purchased will be honored on the new date, which we will announce in the next few days. The security issue is being resolved independently of the festival and will not affect the new date. We will contact sponsors and vendors individually, and we expect most to stick with us for the new date. We recognize this is an unanticipated event, and will work through refunds as best we can. We intend to hold this event and honor our commitments to our attendees, filmmakers, vendors, sponsors, and the greater Dead of Winter community. Thank you for your support.

Dead Of Winter Team"

I know we are all bummed, but I want to say thank you to the DOW team for prioritizing the safety of the community above all else.

Please know this situation is still developing in real time, and I applaud the DOW organizers for staying on top of it. I will keep you posted as soon as I hear any updates.

I wanted to alert you as soon as I could. I know there's a lot of overlap in filmmaker interests here, many of the Friendly Filmmaker community are also friendly with the local Horror scene. I hope this reaches you in time to shift your plans.

All the best,

Julia

SO. MANY. MANNEQUINS! Buffalo Film! Huge congratulations to first time Director and Filmmaker Amelia Favata! Her film "Manic" was shot last weekend, and I am honored to have been there as DP/AD/Gaffer on the project.Ā Amelia did a tremendous job producing and directing. Filmmaking is a roller coaster adventure under the best of circumstances, and she rolled with the punches above and beyond wh...

Update on the YouTube video that popped off! Viral? Kinda! Just wanted to update you on something funny that happened to the YouTube channel while I was away on my writing sabbatical (still underway). One of my videos took off. And it's still doing well.Ā  The video is a snappy how-to guide, called "How To Film an Interview with ONE Camera". You can watch it here if you haven't seen it yet: I...
