Amazing Buffalo!

The "Mother Grimm" screening at AFF!

AMAZING FEST NEWS
Our trip to this year's Amazing Fantasy Film Festival was incredible. Most of the cast and crew of "Mother Grimm" made it all the way out to Buffalo for the weekend, to take in as many indie films as we could possibly see, and to share our film on the Big Screen for the first time with a packed audience!
The Q&A with the audience was incredible and fun, and the reception to the film was overwhelmingly positive. We made new friends, saw some old ones, and even bought home three awards!
Amazing Cinematography, Amazing Experimental Film, and Visionary Award. On top of the nominations for direction and both our lead actors, it really is a great honor. I was vascillating between verklempt and high on goofballs for most of the day.
Thank you to Greg Lamberson and team for an incredible festival.
I know this is the beginning of a great tour for the film, and I hope you all get to see it. Congratulations to my teammates, I can't wait to see all of you again soon!
"WITHOUT YOUR HEAD" INTERVIEW
"Nasty Neal" of Without Your Head on YouTube just interviewed director Jason Lake and myself on his show! It was a live interview. We had the best time!
We talked about how it felt to screen the film in Buffalo, the film communities we love, some BTS tricks we used to shoot the film, fun stories on set, and we even name dropped some local celebrities (like The Lois Weber Film Festival team and the Dead Of Winter team) and answered questions from awesome friends in the Chat.
Thank you to Neal for having us! And thank you to Greg for the introduction! It was a great time. See for yourself! đź”˝

CREW - SOUND RECORDIST & MIXER
Project Title: Shared Fare
Location: Greater Boston Area (on location, practical car interiors + exteriors)
Shoot Dates: TBD
Compensation: Paid (rate TBD)
About the Film:
Shared Fare is a short, dialogue-driven dark comedy set almost entirely inside a rideshare SUV.
Role Description:
Seeking a skilled Production Sound Mixer / Recordist to join the crew. Because the film is largely confined to car interiors, capturing clean dialogue and the right ambient texture will be critical. Some scenes will involve the picture car in motion, so we’ll be relying on lavs and plant mics inside the vehicle, with the mixer monitoring from outside (or a follow car) as needed. Music plays an important role in the story, so balancing playback with dialogue will also be key. (Julia's note: FWIW, this person might also need guidance on when music is necessary on the shoot vs when can be added in post.)
Responsibilities:
- Record high-quality sync sound (dialogue-heavy scenes in confined car interiors).
- Manage lavs, boom, and/or plant mics within small spaces.
- Monitor and minimize road/traffic noise bleed while shooting practical exteriors.
- Provide sound reports and backups daily.
- Collaborate with director and DP on timing of playback cues (diegetic music in car).
Requirements:
- Experience mixing sound for short films or dialogue-driven projects.
- Own or have access to appropriate gear for car interiors (lavs, small boom setups, wireless systems, mixer/recorder).
- Ability to work with a small, nimble crew and adapt quickly on location.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience recording in moving vehicles.
- Familiarity with post-production workflows (hand-off of clean files, labeling).
- Local to Boston or able to self-report.
How to Apply:
Please send résumé/credits, gear list, and rate to [email protected]. Links to past work samples (especially dialogue-heavy projects) are appreciated.

Fellow local independent filmmaker, Lyria Garcia, is making a documentary “3 Thousand Letters” — a story following the plight of JP, a Brazilian immigrant who arrived in 1999 only to face the complex U.S. Immigration System.
After years of dead ends with lawyers, he took matters into his own hands—writing 3,179 letters to the White House, pleading for amnesty and reform.
