Dead Of Winter

Jan 31, 2026
Socials:

First - apologies for the delay in getting this newsletter out. Friendly Filmmaker stands with Minnesota, so in solidarity, I did not work yesterday.

DOW  Panel

I am SUPER honored to report that I've been invited to be a guest on the newly announced panel titled "Miss-Gendered: The Importance of Gender Equality and Queer Representation in Horror". I am excited to participate, and excited to see the audience reaction! The vibe on stage with a live audience is always electric and engaging

Mother  Grimm

Super Exciting News! Jason Lake's film was accepted to Dead Of Winter and will be screening with a Q&A after! I'm stoked to see what you think of it if you haven't seen it yet!

Into  Reality

More Super Exciting News! Matt Gorman's film was also accepted to Dead Of Winter and will be screening with a Q&A after! I'm stoked to see what friends think of it.

More  Films

More exciting films will be screening at Dead of Winter, and two of Magenta Manor's films are premiering. I'm excited to see "Eviction", where the hero gets denied medical treatment, so takes matters into her own hands. And "Noctis Monstorum" also, where I played a creepy derpy witch! Get your tickets below.

BOOTH !

Friendly Filmmaker will have a booth at Dead of Winter! All three years, I've gotten a booth. But this year, I've upped my game. Director and friend Jason Lake will be there with me, sharing news about Mother Grimm, with special memorobilia and commissioned artwork by the amazing Jeremy Aruda, and also a VERY BIG SURPRISE interactive component for horror fans, which I will announce in next week's newsletter. I'm not talking raffles. This goes BEYOND. You WON'T want to miss it. If you're planning to go, make sure to swing by our booth. And if you weren't planning to go, I seriously think this might change your mind.

Book  Update

Still completing the edits to the Friendly Filmmaker Checklist . Despite DOW and other commitments, I haven't slowed down. Stay tuned!

TALES FROM A DARKENED THEATER
WORCESTER, MA

Windham Theatre Guild is delighted to welcome our friends at ImagineX to the Burton Leavitt Theatre!

Tales From a Darkened Theater is an original play, and homage to Rod Serling – who gave us many great stories in popular television shows such as The Twilight Zone, and Night Gallery. It has four short stories (one act plays) surrounded by a framing story that introduces each and ties them all together.

The stories will have the same mixture of suspense and mystery.
One story starts with suspense and ends with a science fiction twist.
One has a supernatural fantasy atmosphere.
One is gothic horror.
And one is more of a psychological horror theme – similar to Alfred Hitchcock.
And the framing story is a mystery that will hopefully keep everyone guessing until the very end.
